Lars Ulrich has finally revealed the answer to the question, will a new Metallica album ever come? Not only is one on the way, it’s going to be wrapped up a lot sooner than imagined.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, the drummer revealed the band is nearly 20 songs into their next release, which marks their first album since 2008’s Death Magnetic. “When I say we’re close to being done, it means the next month or so,” he said.
Currently the band is hammering and shaping their new batch of songs into final tracks. “We are fucking it in,” he continued. “We’ve got lots of songs and we’re honing and tweaking them…There’s a lot of stuff going on as life continues with family and personal events…. But we are certainly down there [writing] pretty much every day.”
As for the release date? That has yet to be revealed but fans can at least expect fair warning before it drops. “Right now, it’s not like we’re going to do one of those things where we’ll just give it to iTunes on Thursday without telling anybody,” he said. “That’s not in the cards.”
